Following impression setting, the first proofs are measured color-spectrometrically
and compared against the artwork master to identify color deviations. Based
on this
data, the appropriate correction inks and quantities are calculated.
The correction inks
can be composed of stock colors or of residual inks from
previous orders – an easy to handle and highly economical process of using
in-stock inks.
All corrections are saved in the system with optional feedback to the central
Ink Kitchen
in order to hit exactly the right tone from the start when running
repeat orders.
For mixing of correction inks, either software integrated precision scales
are available
on the press, or mixing takes place with the aid of portable
metering stations.
